Study Objectives
The objective of this national study is to comprehensively analyze the current state of cybersecurity practices in the retail sector, identifying key challenges and emerging threats faced by retailers in protecting their digital assets and customer data. The study will also explore the impact of cybersecurity incidents, and the role of cybersecurity insurance in managing risks. It will culminate in a set of actionable recommendations for retailers to enhance their cybersecurity posture, made available for any retailers aiming to better safeguard their business interests.

A Detailed Study on Cybersecurity in Canadian Retail
Guardlii, in collaboration with the Canadian Cybersecurity Network, has launched a nation-wide cybersecurity study with the goal of strengthening the cyber resilience of the retail industry.

Whitby, Ontario (July 2, 2024) – Ontario-based cybersecurity firm Guardlii is embarking on a Canada-wide retail cybersecurity study in collaboration with the Canadian Cybersecurity Network (CCN). Together, Guardlii and CCN aim to leverage study findings to help strengthen the cyber resilience of the retail industry, safeguarding businesses and consumers alike.
The retail industry, characterized by vast customer data, high transaction volume, and interconnected systems, is particularly vulnerable to cyber threats, making this study especially critical. With numerous high-profile retail data breaches in recent years, the importance of securing business data and customer transactions is at an all-time high.

Participants of this study (Canadian retailers of all sizes) will be asked to complete a comprehensive survey, providing accurate information about their organization’s cybersecurity practices and experiences. This survey, along with additional industry stakeholder interviews, will inform the study’s detailed findings, analysis and actionable recommendations.
